Following the Synod decisions, we have begun working on the changes to the pension scheme rules to implement these changes. We have also commissioned further work from the Scheme Actuary relating to the pensioner increases.

Work continues on the planned improvements to clergy pensions:
- Actuarial advice: Our actuaries are developing their recommendations on how to best implement some of the more technical elements of the proposed changes. This includes detailed modelling to ensure the changes are fair, sustainable, and deliver the intended benefits.
- Rule changes: We are also working on the necessary updates to the Scheme Rules. These will be finalised over the coming months and, subject to discussions with the Business Committee of General Synod, we hope they can be put to Synod for approval in February 2026. The changes will not come into effect until Synod has approved them.
