The Church of England Pensions Board is committed to the safeguarding of all its customers and staff.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. The Church of England Pensions Board supports a wide range of people through its pensions, retirement services, welfare advice and housing support.

We recognise that some of the people we support are at risk of abuse, harm or neglect and we are committed to safeguarding everyone involved with our services including customers, residents, carers, visiting families and members of staff.

The Church of England Pensions Board complies with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice, including the:

  • Care Act 2014
  • Mental Capacity Act Code of Practice 2005
  • Domestic Abuse Act 2021
  • Children Act 2004 and
  • The Church of England National Safeguarding Standards

In addition to our legislative requirements, our Safeguarding Policy and Procedures comply with the Church of England Codes of Practice and incorporate the relevant findings and recommendations from the Independent learning lessons review, a report authored by Keith Makin in October 2024, examining the Church of England’s response to, and management of historical allegations of abuse.
